Here is an article about the Brigham City Soup kitchen. Dad was involved with this for several years, making rounds of various grocery stores and restaurants to pick up donations.
I went with him once to get bread and vegetables from Kent's and stage it at the Lincoln school for use in the next meal. Maybe he'll comment on what else was involved.

You know, I have lived in Brigham my whole life and have never actually been to the soup kitchen. The woman pictured in this article is a friend of my mom and has done a lot to help my family lately. Thanks for posting it Larry.
