Where the McGee family can keep in touch and share pictures, stories, information, etc. with each other. Great for family announcements!

Another June Birthday! Happy day to you Julie!! (I'll also have you all know that I searched through 5 different picture files in my computer to find a picture where she was by herself and couldn't find one, but I liked this one best mostly because she is smiling!)

June Birthday Ancestors
I didn't post these earlier since their birthdays overlap with living relatives.
Deborah Clark Terry Born 27 June 1736; married Parshall Terry in East Palmyra New York in 1755. My GGGGG Grandmother. She was the mother of Joshua Terry. This link gives some ideas of her life at the time of his birth and possible cause of her death in July 1778. She was the grandmother of both Parshall Terry III and Hannah Terry who married each other as first cousins. These two are the common ancestors with another family in our ward (Susan Strickland Vance) whose granddaughter is in Primary with Katie as her 5th cousin once removed (i.e. Katie is 5th cousins with her mother.)
And
Solomon DeSpain born 22 June 1790 in Surry County, North Carolina, my GGG Grandfather. He died in Illinois in 1856. His son, Solomon Joseph Despain emmigrated to Utah and helped settle Granite Utah.

Charles Peter Cunningham GGG-Grandfather Birthday
Charles Peter Cunningham was born 10 June 1788 in Rutland Vt. He married Sarah Stevens and their first 5 children were born in Rutland. Our ancestor, Seviah Cunningham was their sixth child, born in 1829 in Woodstock Ontario Canada. The eighth child was born in 1833. Sarah, the mother died in 1835 . Charles remarried in 1838. Sometime during their time in Canada, they joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and moved to Missouri to be with the Saints. There they suffered persecution and were with the Saints as they were driven from the state under the extermination order. They moved to and helped build the City of Nauvoo. He eventually moved west and
Note added 7 Sept 2013... Comments by visitors to this blog indicate some of this is in error. Not sure where I got the part about death in 1883. He and his family were in a Pioneer company that arrived in Salt Lake in October 1850 . At that link his death is listed as 11 June 1880 but no location. A hand written note from my grandmother (Charles Peter's great granddaughter) indicates Pomona CA, (consistent with the comments added by visitors to this blog.) but she indicates a date of 1882.

Carson's Birthday
We finally have internet in our area, so now I can post pictures of my little devils. :)
He thought it was pretty cool that the day was all about him.
Carson turned 2 today. We celebrated yesterday because Monty has to work today. Carson got a new bike because he just wouldn't stay away from Noelle's. Even though he can't ride it yet, he loves to be pushed.

Happy Birthday Buddy!

Katie's Baptism
Today was Katie's Baptism. The ordinance was performed by Andy. There were lots of friends from several wards, as well as family. Anna came from Oregon, Michele's sisters came from Sacramento. Mom and Dad came from Utah and Dan came over from Berkeley.
Afterwards, the ward put on a ward dinner for us. It was great.

Andy's Eagle Court of Honor
Andy's court of Honor was a great success thanks to Michele and all her efforts. Dan presented the Eagle Charge to Andy. After the ceremony there was a nice reception on the side with a slide show of Andy's school year pictures from kindergarten to now and a bunch of scouting experiences.
Four of Andy's six scoutmasters were in attendance along with friends from school and church from both wards as well as family. It was great to see many of the people that have supported Andy and helped him become the person he is now.

Another GG Grandmother Birthday
Lora Ann Demille
Born 2 June 1828, in Colesville New York. granddaughter of Joseph Knight and Polly Peck and daughter of Anna Knight and Freeborn Demille. As a 3 year old they moved to Missouri to build up Zion and she then experienced the mobbing and persecution that drove them out of the state by the time she was 11. As a young teenager she saw the birth and growth of Nauvoo. She turned 16 the month that Joseph and Hyrum were murdered. She was almost 18 when the Church left Nauvoo. Her family was at Winter Quarters and Mt. Pisgah Iowa for a couple of years. At age 20 in 1848, she married Samuel Kendall Gifford (link to his journal) and her first son, my GGrandfather Alpheus was born there in Iowa in 1849 . When they finally moved west, they settled first in Manti and then later moved to Southern Utah. The family homestead was actually inside the boundaries of Zions Canyon National Park.
She died in 1870. As an indication of when photography came to that part of Utah, we have no picture of her but do have pictures of both her parents and her husband and both of his parents, all of whom died later than 1877.
She is also the name sake for our Laura, but at the last minute we changed the spelling. So Laura and Anna come from this mother daughter pair.
